Melvin Crispell III comes from a distinguished musical heritage. His mother, Tunesha Crispell, was a renowned gospel vocalist whose contributions can be heard on numerous popular choir recordings, as well as in a highly praised solo project. Following the unexpected passing of his father when Melvin was just 16, and the premature loss of his mother at 18, he found strength through his faith in God and his passion for music, proving that these tragedies did not define his journey.

Utilizing his powerful voice to guide others toward a deeper connection with God while honoring his family's musical legacy and forging his own path, Melvin triumphed in Season 9 of BET’s Sunday Best in 2019. He released his debut album, I’ve Got A Testimony, in 2020, and in his latest 2023 album, he asserts that “there is NO FAILURE in God.” Throughout the challenges of the pandemic, including loss, isolation, and the closure of churches and schools, Melvin remained steadfast in his faith.

A nominee for the GRAMMYⓇ, Dove, and Stellar Awards, he recorded his second album, No Failure, at Springcreek Church in Garland, Texas, marking his first experience as an executive producer. The 11 tracks on No Failure, which is both his second full-length and first live album, inspire listeners to maintain their faith, particularly during life’s most challenging times.

The Mississippi Mass Choir has motivated countless individuals with their impactful gospel music, transitioning from church choir performances to the Billboard Charts. Established in 1988 by the late Frank Williams—an iconic singer, songwriter, producer, and visionary—the choir has enjoyed a prominent role in the gospel music scene for almost 35 years. This esteemed gospel choir has made a significant impact worldwide, delivering uplifting anthems that embody resilience, hope, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

The impactful ministry of the Mississippi Mass Choir is deeply rooted in the humble commitment of its founder, Frank Williams, to the vision of bringing together and mentoring some of the most talented singers in Mississippi on a grand scale. Williams enlisted the help of his friend and music minister, David R. Curry Sr., along with piano virtuoso Jerry C. Smith, to gather over 150 singers from across the state. This diverse group, comprising individuals from various backgrounds—teenagers, seniors, teachers, police officers, and truck drivers—came together in unity, driven by a shared faith and a singular mission: “To Serve God Through Song!”

The choir achieved remarkable success early on, with their debut album reaching the No. 1 spot on Billboard's gospel charts for an impressive 45 consecutive weeks, a record for any music genre, which earned them a special achievement award.

In 1993, following the untimely death of Frank Williams, Pastor Jerry Mannery took over as the choir’s executive director. Under his leadership, the choir has produced 11 albums, received 4 Grammy nominations, been inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame, won 5 Stellar Awards, and earned a Stellar Gospel Music Lifetime Achievement Award, among numerous other honors. However, these accolades merely highlight their greater mission: to disseminate the Gospel throughout the world.

Regardless of their location or the size of the venue, the Mississippi Mass Choir remains focused on a singular goal: to glorify God and uplift spirits. With voices that resonate as timelessly as their message of hope, what started as a vision of unity among individual singers across the state has now reached a global audience. Their achievements and performances—from the Acropolis to the Vatican to Tokyo—only strengthen their commitment to the foundational vision of their founder, Frank Williams. His aspiration to lead souls to Christ's redemptive grace through music will endure as long as there are hearts yearning for grace and a Mississippi Mass Choir ready to inspire with the enduring power of gospel truth.
